Trip to Fredericksburg

For the last weekend in May, we traveled to Fredericksburg to meet up with Vic's parents, Janny & Grandpa, for a wedding. The wedding was for Melanie and Holden Light. Melanie is a Moore who is somehow related to the Seidel side (it is really confusing!) and just happened to also be one of Vic's best student workers he ever hired! So, down we went to see them get married and celebrate their day! We arrived Friday afternoon and made our way up to a bed and breakfast type house that Steve & Janice had rented for the weekend. It was a little scary and treacherous driving up it for the first time. It was at the top of a hill and we were not sure what to expect as we drove. Lots of trees and rocks and cactus. But, we made it up there and it had a beautiful view and was a great house for us for the weekend. Janice took Atticus on a walk right away to see a donkey that was penned up. Horses, donkeys, chickens, and even a pot bellied pig just roamed the land and we would see them all from time to time. Grace and Atticus both loved taking walks, although after learning the people at th main house had to kill a huge rattlesnake on Saturday, I became more leery of walks with the kids. Friday night was spent eating dinner and letting the kids play. Saturday morning, we all went into Fredericksburg to do a little shopping and walking around. The kids were tired from the late night before and not in the best mood for this adventure; plus, there are like a million toy stores in that downtown area and we had not prepared Atticus with the "we can look but not buy anything" speech in time. We made it back to the house to nap and get ready for the wedding that was at 4pm. The wedding was great and we made it through uneventful. We drove out to the reception and it turned out to be a fabulous place for kids to be. Although there was lots of downtown, the kid had unlimited cookies and snacks available and a huge grassy area to play. After dinner, where they actually behaved very well, they entertained themselves by running up and down the hilly driveway over and over and over, into mine and Vic's arms to spin them. Once the band started up at dark, we did a little dancing and then called it a night around 9:30 or so. It was a good, but exhausting day. Sunday morning everyone got up and ready to head out mid-morning. Steve and Janice headed home, but I wanted to shop a little, so Vic took the kids to a park to play and by the time we were ready to head home, they were exhausted and ready to nap in the car. It was a good weekend!
 On a walk.
 Checking out the chicken coop.
 Cattle guards....for cattle and children!

This girl has no fear....at one point, she picked up a red ant and brought it to me!
But, this is my cautious boy. Janice was nicer than me; I had him hold onto the rail and walk across. He is too heavy to carry!
Setting up dinosaurs wherever we go.
Our view off the back porch.
 Wedding Time!
Running off energy!
