July: Camp Erwin Post 2 - Gameday, Waterpark & Fireworks

On the following day of Camp Erwin, Saturday, July 1st, we slept in and then had everyone over to Mom & Dad's for Game Day. Usually, we do Game Day at Christmas, but the Christmas before this the Seidel crew could only be in town for a couple of days and we did not have time to do Game Day. So, on this day, we did it! I love Game Day. It's just fun because we laugh so much! Typically, we play at least one really hard game that only people like Mom, that know really random knowledge, can win! Or we play games that just end up being super competitive between spouses! We almost always play Fishbowl (a game like charades) that is so fun, even though you have to guess multi-generational ideas (Melbo or Pa always include people like Judge Judy or famous calf ropers or old westerns for us to try to figure out!). We eat a lot of food, laugh a lot and it's just so much fun!
I don't have lots of pics of Game Day, but it was a fun day! The next day, Sunday, we slept in again, and woke up to take just the Seidel crew to the Denton Water Park. We actually met Tabatha and some of her family there too. This place has THE BEST kids splash pad area and they have a lazy river. Well, the kids were fresh off of swim lessons, and Atticus had been swimming really good. So, most of the time, he didn't even want a tube for the lazy river; he just swam the river. Grace typically wanted a tube, but if she wanted to swim, it really meant Vic had to hold her while she pretended to swim! ha! Everly was easy and happy to float or play. She was still not walking yet. And, while I sun screened her every 27 minutes (her sweet, pale, baby skin!), she was so cute in the water!
After we wore out from swimming, we ran into Sanger to pick up sno cones and then Vic decided we needed to pop some fireworks that night! In the past, the marina, down the road from the house, has a big fireworks show out on the lake during this weekend we were in town. But, I think the rumor was that they didn't raise enough money, so no fireworks show. It was always a good one and we didn't even have to leave the back porch to go watch it! So, thankfully, no burn ban in Sanger and although I am way too scared to pop off fireworks because I have never done it before, Vic was a pro. He has many years of experience watching his dad and popping them with his dad back when he was younger and they did it every year. So, he knew what to buy. Do you know who was excited to do this? ATTICUS! He helped pick out fireworks and loved helping set them off! It was such a fun night; the goats were less than thrilled to see these so close to their barns, haha, but it was really fun! They were mostly small ones - who knew fireworks were so expensive? But, it was a fun evening I won't forget.
We brought out sno cones home to eat on the backporch with the baby goats.

Once it was time for fireworks, Atticus was ready! He waited and waited until it was dark and then emptied his little bag of fireworks to look at each and every one.
Vic chose the spot in the pasture to set them off from.
Grace prepared herself to handle the noises with headphones. She never took them off. She was scared that they would be so loud so Grandma came through with these.
A few baby fireworks to start. I should also mention that Grandma was very concerned during this activity - fire, goats, I mean - so much could go wrong. But, I always trust Vic and Daddy didn't seem concerned either. But, it was funny to watch!
Grace and Atticus both got brave to do these black cats? Is that what they are called? I have no idea!
But, of course, Atticus loved doing the bigger ones with Vic! I don't have any pics of the ones that made it into the sky, but they were awesome and loud and a great way to kickoff the 4th of July!
It was a great night!
