Back in Kindergarten, Atticus had an Elf come from the North Pole to his classroom. I think his name was Snowy. Snowy would move around the classroom every day. Then, in 1st grade, Atticus had an elf, whose name I do not remember, also come to his classroom. It was then that he started hoping that Santa would send an elf to our house this year. He kept asking me how we got an elf and I told him I had no idea. He finally said "Leah (our neighbor) will tell you how to get one!" because he was so desperate for our family to have our own elf! Well, sure enough, we had an Elf show up on our mantel one morning in December. He had a book that explained himself and the kids chose to name him Elvis. I later found out that Elvis was also the name of Greer and Ellie's elf! They copied them! :) Apparently, Elvis is supposed to watch the kids and go back every night to Santa to report whether they have been good or not. He is a magic elf. And the kids are not allowed to touch him or he will lose his magic. He moves around doing silly things every night! Here's a few things he did while he was with us....(oh and the kids loved leaving him notes and treats each night too - like below).

He taped our "fake elves" to the wall.
He left his signature for the kids.
He ate some snacks.
You can't see it, but he put another fake elf on the end of his fishing pole and hung him upside down from the wreath.
He put mistletoe above the Barbie car and hung out with Barbie all day.
He buckled himself into the carseat and the kids didn't get to ride to school in the front seat that day.
And he even surprised us in Sanger and hung out with the goats in Grandma's nativity! He was a fun elf and I sure hope he comes back next year!
