It's football season!

So, for the last 6 weeks, we have been watching some Fightin' Texas Aggie Football! And, of course, we have to wear our maroon! Also, I signed the kids up for the Junior Aggie Club which means they get free tickets to lots of sporting events and then some half priced tickets to one football game, as well as some other conference games for baseball and basketball. So, this past weekend, Vic and Atticus went to see A&M BTHO Kentucky! Whoop! They had seats in the north end zone on the 3rd deck, and they had a great time! And, after overtime play, we won! Vic said Atticus stayed completely into the game; never asked for anything (although Vic said they indulged in lots of good concession stand food!) and never complained. Atticus loves seeing sporting events, but games are long and you can get pretty tired, even at 7 years old. So, we were proud of him and really glad that he had such a good time! Here we are in some maroon and white!
And Vic is so photogenic! He always looks so nice and is so fit and healthy! Maybe one day, his wife will get her act together and look better for him! ha!

And here are pictures from the football game:

Meet the Aggie Football Team!

On August 12, Vic took Atticus on campus to Meet the Team for Aggie Football. They had a really good time and while Vic said the lines were really long to get into the building (and it was raining too), once they were inside, things moved pretty quickly. They were given a big poster of the number 12 football player and they made their way through the tables to get autographs. It was separated by position and they got almost all of the players to sign! They did not get Coach Fisher because his line was the longest and it ended before they could get in to wait. But, Atticus liked getting the quarterbacks the most! They had a great time and even got a photo with the yell leaders. Atticus said Vic looked like one of the yell leaders because he was wearing a white shirt.

Afterwards, they took a special lunch date to the Dixie Chicken for burgers. And Atticus said they are going to go back another time so they can play pool together. One-on-one adventures with the kids are so fun, so I was so glad they got to go meet the team and kick off the Aggie Football season!

Atticus came home and told us that one of the Aggie Football players (but he couldn't remember who) told him he liked his sunglasses and that Coach Fisher wore the same sunglasses! :)
Vic even stopped at Walmart on the way home and bought him a frame to hang it up!
 Lunch at the Chicken!
And then Atticus came home and got back to work taking care of his littlest sister!

Aggie Football Maroon & White Spring Game

On Everly's Birthday, Vic took Atticus to the Maroon & White game and even met Todd, Haley & Camden there as well! It turned out to be a chilly, windy day, but it was still fun for Atticus. Even Johnny Manziel was there for some halftime "game" with old players. Here are some quick pics!

Atticus's First Aggie Football Game

This fall, a couple of days before the A&M vs. South Carolina game, my college roommate Shelley, sold her football tickets for the game. I snatched them up and we decided I would take Atticus to his first Fightin' Texas Aggie Football game! Whoop! I was so excited because he had recently gotten into Aggie football. Aggie football is always fun, but it's so much fun living in College Station. With young kids, it's usually easier to just watch games on TV at home, but now that Atticus is older and can last during events, it is going to be really fun taking him to games! So, as normal for a football Saturday, we all put on our Aggie gear and then Atticus and I headed for an evening game of football.
 Kisses for Everly!
We arrived to campus and decided to go through the end zone where they have some games and freebies (Atticus loves a freebie!) and then headed over to watch the Yell Leaders lead some yells. Then, we watched the band, yell leaders and team walk in. We checked out the MSC and bought a souvenir, and then we made our way up to 3rd deck to find our seats. We were in the south end zone towards the very top. Now, the last time I had tickets in the South End Zone, it was for the Red, White & Blue Out game in 2001 with my friend Shari, who got us tickets in the bleachers. Yes - there were bleachers in the south end zone and that was it! So, with the new stadium, it was cool to be in this area. But, I can feel dizzy pretty quick in high areas and am so clumsy, that I always worry I'm going to fall or a kid is going to fall on things like this. It was really high up there! But, once seated, they were great seats and we got a breeze and because it was an evening game, we didn't face the sun for long. Thankfully, Atticus is so easy going and was just so happy to be there. Of course, we had to go down a couple of times for bathroom and snacks, but most of the time, we sat up there and Atticus never wanted to leave. He lasted the entire game, although I was completely prepared to go home early. 4 hours is a long time for a game and we'd already been walking around campus for awhile. But, he was so happy to wave his 12th man towel, do the yells, ask questions, cheer for the Aggies and had the best time. We watched the Aggie band, met a band member after the game, and cheered the Aggies to a VICTORY! I LOVE Texas A&M and the traditions and Aggie football and everything that goes with these moments. I was so glad to experience a game with him and so proud of him. My heart still bursts with Aggie pride thinking of that night and how much fun it was. I will say that I felt so much for him, because by the time we were getting out of there after the game at 10:00, we had to slowly make our way down the ramps (from 3rd deck) and that took awhile and then we had to walk all the way across campus to our vehicle. His little legs were so tired. He kept asking if I could carry him, but I just couldn't for very long. He's growing up so fast! But, he was a good sport and I think he crashed in the car before we even got out of campus game traffic. But, truly - it was such a wonderful day and night with my little Atticus!
