Babies!

Also, this past weekend, we finally got to see our friends' new baby. Haley Brielle was born a little over a month ago, I believe. Emily & Todd live close to my family so on the way home from the Clash of the Craniums, we stopped for a visit. Haley is just the tiniest sweetest little baby. She slept in my arms the entire time I held her and I am just so excited for Todd & Emily. You can already tell they will be wonderful parents and I am really looking forward to the stories they have! Here are a couple of pictures below! You can barely see her in Vic's arms!

And here is the proud little family!

Also, back in June, another couple we are friends with had Cole William! They came over for dinner when he was not very big and had tacos. And, of course, I got a couple sweet shots of him. See their blog on the right side of mine "the Meier family". He is growing so much and I love seeing the updates! He was in the office just last week for a lunch visit with Megan and is getting to the stage of laughing and figuring everybody out. I loved every single day of Megan being pregnant because she and I would have daily chats about everything happening as this sweet little boy grew. I am now so excited to get to watch him grow up! Here he was at only a few weeks old (maybe 2 months??) He already wanted to be a part of the "big kids" table!

We are just so lucky to have such good friends with such wonderful kiddos!

Clash of the Craniums

Many of you may remember my post from back in the spring for "Battle of the Brains". Well, this past weekend, Clash of the Craniums was held. It is a trivia contest for teams of 2-5 to compete. All money goes to the Challenge Student Activity Fund. A ton of work goes into it by all the teachers, and my dad is a big part of that. There are 10 categories - this year's categories were things like Halloween, Odds & Ends, Literature, Presidents & First Ladies, Logos, etc. Throughout a couple of hours, you answer questions as a team and score as many points out of a 100 as you can. This year had a Halloween theme (décor, games for extra points, costumes, etc.). So, since we needed to wear costumes, Charley came up with the idea of celebrating Christmas during Halloween! I think our final name was the "Crazy Christmas Carol Crusaders". It was very entertaining to see Vic and Charley get all dressed up. The girls on the team, (my mom, Charley's friend Lauren, and I) were a little less embarrassing as far as our clothes! We just used anything red and green and added any Christmas accessories that we could! It was a ton of fun though. Our team score increased from I think something around 30 points last time to 47 this time. Don't think we are dumb! Those questions are pretty tough. I have to say that I was very impressed with our team members - especially those boys and their history!
Our Team! It's hard to see, but Vic had Christmas lights that lit-up around him.
So, Charley and Lauren found some of their attire at the Goodwill store. I don't know what makes me more concerned about Charley - 1) that he would even buy these or 2) that they used to be someone else's boxers! Okay, so hopefully they were just worn as shorts!
Above are some of the games that were played to earn 'extra points'. Bobbing for apples, finding worms, and dressing up like a mummy!
They always think they are so tough; I mean, they are wearing jingle bell arm bands for goodness sake! But, really, they do keep me entertained!

Overall, we had a wonderful weekend with our family. And, it makes me really want to get ready for Christmas, even if Halloween isn't even here yet! Hey - how cute is that guy below?

Fightin' Texas Aggie Football

A couple of weeks ago, our good friends, Mandee and Derek, came into town for a fun weekend of visiting and some Fightin' Texas Aggie Football! We had a fun weekend of celebrating Vic being done with the CPA process, eating, and hanging out on campus. Though the Ags fell just a little short of a victory, it is always nice to be back on campus cheering on the Maroon & White! I will say that it was pretty chilly that day and the boys were not expecting it to be quite as cold. That is why Vic is wearing a Brazos Valley Bombers shirt he borrowed from a tailgate. It's covering up the maroon t-shirt! We were really hoping our other friends, Joe & Cassie could come in as well, but they learned a couple weeks before the game they wouldn't be able to. However, they still sent us the football tickets they had gotten AND VIP passes to a great tailgate. So, thank you Joe & Cassie!
We always enjoy the fall in College Station, because so many of our college friends come back to watch the Ags and we take advantage of getting to see them! So, anyone that wants to come down, come on!

Lubbock!

Hello! So, back at the beginning of September, Vic took his first trip to Lubbock to not only work, but visit the Veretts! I was here at home scrubbing floors and washing windows and doing yard work (just kidding - I think I shopped and went to the winery that weekend! ha!). Anyways, Vic came back with such great pictures! And, I immediately put them on the blog and asked Vic to, at some point, add information about his trip and pics. But, time gets away and he hasn't and he's pretty busy. So, I decided to just post the pics anyways. I bet you can figure out what they did all day on one of those fun days they had! Cotton!

Maybe Vic will get to post some comments eventually. If not, we are getting to go for trip #2 for him and trip #1 for me in just a few weeks! I can't wait!!

License # is here!

Just have to brag a little bit.....Vic is official! He took his last CPA exam in July, found out he passed at the end of August, had to pay a few fees, take a couple online courses and is now officially a CPA. I could not be more proud of him! Thinking back to only January, when Vic started taking the Becker Review night courses to review for the exams, we prepared ourselves for this to take awhile. Becoming a CPA is no easy task but with Vic (and lots of prayers), he just can't fail! So, needless to say, we are starting off this super gorgeous day in College Station very pleased.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Ag Program Girls Reunion!

Okay, so I told you that we were having a little reunion of my good girlfriends this weekend. And, to confirm....it was as fun as I expected! We began the evening at Casa Ole. Casa Ole was the place we went most in college after work for their $1.00 (or was it $1.50) margaritas. It is located right behind the Wells Fargo Building where we worked and was super convenient! So, at 4:00, Darcee, Lauren and I met and then in a little while came Taylor and Katerina. We were there until about 8:00 catching up and drinking what else but....margaritas! (below is Katerina, Darcee, Lauren, Taylor and myself!)
Then we headed to Northgate for a quick drink and to see Lauren's little brother, Will. We must be getting old (or actually we were just exhausted) because most of us left about 10:00 and headed to my house. After a tour, we opened a bottle of wine, visited a little while longer with some other friends and hit the sack! This is some of us at Northgate (me, Lauren, Taylor, Darcee):The next morning after some breakfast and girl talk, we headed to Freebirds for lunch and then onto campus for some tailgating and the football game against UAB!Once we got to campus, we headed straight to the new giant "Aggie Ring" that has been displayed at the Association of Former Students. It really is impressive and of course, we had to take some pictures in front of it.We headed onto the rest of campus where all the tailgates were being held. Lauren's parents come for all of the games, as her brother, Will, is in the Cavalry. They are also big-time Aggies and from what I saw, had a great tailgate with lots of great food with other Cav families. Vic and I also stopped by the Lee Adams tailgate. The Cummings family invited us and even gave us 2 tickets that happened to be right next to them. Darcee and I took them up on the tickets right away! The football game was lots of fun; nice and cool and plenty to watch. Fortunately, A&M beat the hell outta UAB 56-19! Whoop!
I can never resist capturing the Aggie Band on film, since they are so impressive. I love the football games and the band and the War Hymn and Spirit of Aggieland and everything else that comes with these exciting days! Thank you to Debbie and Scott for giving us such great tickets! Here is a picture of Darcee and I on the field after the game. How fun are we?After a really fun weekend, everyone went back home to their jobs and families. But, I am already happy for the next time we get to see everyone!

Something good's about to happen....

Good Morning! So, ever since I woke up this morning, I just have that feeling that something good is going to happen today! Do you ever get that super fun feeling? I used to get it before a goat show and sure enough - I'd win Grand or Showmanship or something. It typically starts off with a beautiful morning like this morning. Here in College Station, it has been cool and rainy and overcast all week (which I am NOT complaining about!). But, today it is cool and sunny and just exciting! Something good is going to happen!

I already know of 2 things:

1. Our good friends Todd and Emily are delivering their firstborn today at noon. Please - anyone reading this - say a prayer for them at noon! Or before of course! It is going to be so much fun to see Haley after hearing about her for so long! And, Vic and I are REALLY looking forward to all of the fun they will have, the stories they will tell us and seeing them become the wonderful parents I know they will be.

2. My wonderful sweet Ag Program girls are coming into town! Back in college, I worked in the payroll office which allowed some wonderful life-changing events to happen for me! One - I met Vic and fell in love - WOOHOO! And, two - I met some of the most kind, inspiring, fun, intelligent girls there and we became such good friends while in college, and thanks to Lauren (who is so good to keep getting us together to visit), we do see one another at least once a year. So, today Lauren is coming from DC, Darcee from Houston, Taylor from Austin and Katerina and I are here in College Station already! Kymberly is not able to make it, but we will still include her in all of our laughs! I am SO looking forward to it and cannot wait to catch up with all of them!

3. I just do not know what else can happen today; I'm not going to lie - I have one idea of super fun good news that could be coming but I won't say it on here just in case I am wrong. No, I'm not pregnant - haha! That is something some people are always waiting to hear!

Okay, I better get back to work. I have just been so excited and had to post my thoughts! And, because as my cousin Mary says: every post is better with a picture, here is one for today:This is Vic dressed up for an 80's party a year or so ago. I'm sure he will really appreciate me posting this, but it always makes me laugh. In fact, we were lucky we got those pants buttoned - his waist was a little bigger than those pants. I don't think I'd ever laughed so hard when he couldn't button them. Really - it was quite entertaining. Oh Vic! He is so fun!

Shop Til Ya Drop!!!

This past weekend, my friend Danielle invited me to go with her mom's Bon Appetite group on a special trip! The Bon Appetite group includes a group of women who attend Church together and spend lots of time cooking! Each year, Danielle's mom plans a trip of some kind for them and from what I understand, it always includes good food, good wine and good shopping in addition to lots of other wonderful plans! So, needless to say, I really wanted to go!

We left Houston on a charter bus at 7am Friday morning. Here we are all covered up on the bus (it was a little chilly).Normally, a bus trip is not that much fun, but with this group, it was a blast! It begins with champagne and cranberry juice and sausage kolaches for breakfast! Then, we have a 'gift game' with lots of great gifts and lots of stealing and strategizing to get just what you want! Also, there is "all-you-can-drink" wine and beer and of course, water and cokes. We had "bus hops" that would serve you anytime you needed another drink. It was too cool!

The first stop the bus made was at the huge outlet malls in San Marcus! In fact, all of our time spent was in the San Marcus area. Here is a picture of Danielle and I just off the bus! And, here is a picture of Loretta (left) and Lacinda (right) who are 2 of the funniest women you can hang out with! Loretta is Danielle's mom and the trip planner. We spent the entire day shopping with the first major stop in Brighton, which apparently, was having some sale that occurs every 3rd weekend of each month. We were not aware of this, but apparently, lots of people were! It was PACKED and jewelry was everywhere with women grabbing up as much as they could of the best deals. Even men were there holding baskets and counting items for their wives (what great guys, huh!?). We actually stood in line for about 45 minutes to pay. But, it was very much worth it! Then, we continued to shop until about 5:30 pm when we checked into our hotel, and loaded back up on the bus for dinner at Tres Hermanas Enchiladas. Not only was the food and margaritas fantastic, but so was the entertainment! We had 2 guys that played their guitars and sang lots of music for us. The older man was ridiculously funny; in the middle of songs, he would just break out with "ayeyaya" and "you are foxy ladies" and "you gonna get drunk tonight'. He was crazy! We got a picture with him at the end too!The next day had another great agenda! We headed to a GIGANTIC Garden Ridge that had the best stuff ever! Anything you could want for your home, this place had. I definitely loaded up on a few goodies for our new house! Here we are with an empty basket, but by the end, it was overflowing! At lunchtime, we ate burgers at Centerpoint Station (right across from the outlet mall). They are known for their delicious burgers. And, what could make a great burger place even better?.....a boutique type shopping place with jewelry, home décor, clothes, etc. Here is a picture of Danielle and I trying to be super sneaky....we actually wanted a picture of something on the wall behind us that we want to make at home by ourselves, but didn't want the owners to see us taking a picture. Aren't we clever? After that, we went.....BACK TO THE OUTLET MALL! This afternoon was even more productive than Friday. We were focused, organized, and made the most of our 3 and a half hours that day. In fact, between Danielle, Loretta, Lacinda, and I, we had filled 2 shopping carts. Now, you may recall that the outlet mall does not have shopping carts for you to take from store to store. But, we had soooo much and had to walk soooo far to the parking lot where the bus was that Loretta and Lacinda came up with the brilliant idea to just "borrow" these shopping carts from Pottery Barn to hold our bags. It worked just great....poor Pottery Barn never even missed them, I'm sure! See us here....Later that evening, we traveled to Three Dudes Winery for a BBQ dinner and wine tasting! Their wine was delicious and so was the BBQ. They are a fairly new winery with their tasting facilities only open for about 2 years, if I remember correctly. We ate dinner on a covered deck outside and the weather was perfect. It overlooked the San Marcus river. Here is Danielle and I at the tasting.Later that evening, once everyone got back to the hotel, a group of ladies got together to play Chickenfoot. My family really enjoys chickenfoot so we've played plenty, but these ladies played a new and fun way with money! Only a penny per point, and a few different rules, but very fun. And, I honestly, do not know if I've ever laughed so much! The hotel staff put the group into one of the meeting rooms instead of the lobby so we could visit and not be extra quiet and because it was already about 9:30 or 10:00 that night. Well, that was the loudest, funniest group I've ever been a part of. Every single comment sparked giggles and more laughs and stories and comments and made the entire night so fun! Plus, a few glasses of wine and a couple beers and the group was good to go! Here is a picture of who knows what kind of story being laughed at!
And, finally Sunday was our last day of shopping. We had a few hours left to get the last buys and then we were back on the road for more "bus fun" of gifts games, trivia and fun drinks. It really was a wonderful time and I already want to go where ever the trip is held for next year! As soon as we got to the parking lot at the Church, 3 men, (who obviously have handled these duties a time or two before) started emptying luggage, shopping bags, ice chests, etc. from under the bus, inside the bus (and surprisingly not on top of the bus, as much stuff as there was!). The winery we went to (Three Dudes Winery) had T-shirts for sale that said: "It takes a lot of beer to make good wine!" Apparently, if they didn't drink beer while making the wine, they'd just drink all the wine. So, that is a great phrase! Some of the women who bought shirts took cute pictures. We finally got back to College Station after an exhausting "Shop Til Ya Drop" weekend where we actually did just that! Danielle and I filled her Tahoe with all of our goodies! I can't wait until next year!

Time passes too quickly...

Oh Keller....we cannot believe it's been a year. We love you and we miss you and we'll never stop remembering you.
