July 8-12: JW Marriott San Antonio Trip

When we got back on Wednesday, the 5th, Vic still had the rest of the week off of work. We took a quick day date to the outlet mall in Houston on Thursday and then on Saturday, we loaded up the family and headed to San Antonio.
I love how Atticus packed his bag - every toy, book, etc....but no clothes...?
So, for this trip, Vic actually had a conference and meetings Monday thru Wednesday. We decided to add an extra night to our stay at the JW Marriott, a really nice family resort. We arrived after lunch on Saturday and went to Morgan's Wonderland. Next time, we will bring the kids' swimsuits because they had a great water area and splash pad for younger kids. But, we drove cars, rode the Ferris wheel, played on the playground, rode the merry-go-round, and had a great time!
We were hot and tired, so we went to the hotel, checked in, and Vic took the kids down to the pool while I had some quiet time and ordered room service! Then, I too, went down to the pool for a little bit. After that, Vic picked up In-and-Out Burger down the road and we took baths and went to bed!
We woke up the next morning, Monday, and Vic was off to meetings. I, however, was ready to go home and let Vic finish his meetings and come home with someone else on Wednesday. Everly and I slept very little all night and I was just tired and frustrated wondering if I really wanted to be doing all the kids things by myself for the next few days. I can always handle everything and enjoy it, but sometimes, it's hard and I just want Vic with me for everything. However, I got over it and we decided that instead of going home, we'd continue with our plans for the day. So, I dressed the kids up in the cutest clothes and we headed to downtown San Antonio to the Do-seum. This children's museum was worth every penny. It had so much and even more than we had time to do or were old enough for. Although there were science and math areas where you could really learn, the best part was the "Little Town" that was created for pretend play. There were tons of kids in there, but enough room for all 3 of mine to play. They had everything from a grocery store to a bank, airplane, bulldozer, vet clinic, trolley, and mechanic shop. Everly was easy with anything we played with. Atticus loved the airplane the most and Grace loved every part...as long as she carried this glass of milk and plate of cheesecake with her. She carried it to the trolley to play; she sat in the airplane pretending for a long time. She is just full of imagination! But, all 3 kids really are full of imaginations. I love this age and watching them. We checked out other areas as well, but ended up in Little Town again. It was a full day but I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
We got back to the hotel, walked around the hallways and waited for Vic. Then, we ate dinner in one of the hotel restaurants that had giant TV screens, full of sports, all the way across the wall. We walked around outside, came back to the hotel room and watched Looney Tunes: Back in Action on Netflix. The kids love Looney Tunes and when Vic found this movie, it became a new favorite for the next month to come! I think we watched it at least 4 times during our stay at the hotel.
We woke up the next day and I decided we would go to this toy store I found close by that also had a story time. It was one of those great boutique type toy stores that cost too much but the kids can play with all of the toys and they have special events, like this weekly story time with a snack. It was part of this really nice shopping area and I had thoughts of doing a little shopping too, but...3 kiddos! So, we played and did story time and came away with Beanie Boos. Do you know what those are? Well, sometime before this trip, Atticus started loving Beanie Boos. They are small stuffed animals with big eyes and there are a million different ones. Atticus has always loved stuffed animals and Grace now does too. So, they wanted Beanie Boos. In fact, they had brought all of their Beanie Boos they owned to the hotel with them for our trip. And I should just say now, that although I checked every inch of that room when we left a couple of days later, somehow, I left a Beanie Boo. Grace still, to this day, asks if we can get it when we go back. And then she remembers that I told her another little girl probably found it and has loved it all of the time since then and she is happy again.

Anyways, we shopped and then went to a pizza place called Grimaldi's. Well, I didn't realize it was kind of a fancy pizza place. And I took my 3 kids all ages 6 and under there. By myself. Hmm. We got lucky and survived and it was actually really good pizza! We killed as much time as possible, came back to the hotel where Vic got done with work and took the big kids to the pool while I let Everly nap. I'm pretty sure we watched Looney Tunes: Back in Action again and then we ate dinner at that same restaurant. But, this time, we had a TV in our booth. Fancy! Then, we walked around and got s'mores and enjoyed the last night in our fancy hotel.

We woke up on Wednesday morning and killed time until lunch when Vic was done with meetings. We walked the many halls of the conference center and wore their little legs out. We snacked. We went outside. We did as much as we could before our fun trip was over. Just about every summer, we try to go with Vic to one of his meetings because they have them at such great places!  This was a really fun trip!
