TV's for Sale!
One other quick picture: see all these TV's? Well we have laughed and laughed because we have become the storage home for some friend's/family's televisions. Lots of our friends and family are in the process of moving from one house to another in the next week or so and to avoid the hassle of carrying TV's around, they've stored them at our house. Right now we are up to a total of 4! We don't mind at all of course, but here is a picture of 3 of them and Charley's is in the garage!
The First Mowing
2nd Annual Seidel Family Fishing Trip
This past weekend Vic and I left College Station and headed to Port Aransas for the 2nd Annual Seidel Family Fishing Trip (Vic, me, his parents and his sister). Vic and I had a pretty long but fun week of work and settling in our house, so we were exhausted when we got to Port A on Thursday night about 11:00 or so. Our first day of fishing (Friday) was spent catching lots of hardheads, though Steve and Janice did catch a few redfish. However, on Saturday, we did great! Well, Vic and Jill did great! Steve and Janice and I participated and had fun only catching one each! Vic caught 4 redfish and Jill caught 8 allowing us to limit out at 15 redfish! I will say for Steve, he tends to get to fish less than the rest of us, as he is getting bait for us or getting fish off of the girls' hooks or fixing knotted fishing line. But, it was truly Jill's day as it seemed that the second she cast, she had fish just a minute or two later. Steve said she had the "mojo" for that day! In the evenings, Steve and Vic cooked dinner and we all played card games. The condo was really nice and had a beautiful view of the water and some houses. It was a really nice weekend!
This is the redfish I caught! Even if it was the only one, it ended up being the biggest at about 27 inches long!
The Seidel Family and most of the fish they caught that day!
Jill & I were sunburned and happy and took in some super fun Port A shopping! One store was super expensive though and we had more fun just seeing how much stuff cost! Oh to be rich!
How cute is my little fisherman Vic?
The Amazing Taylor Verett and Super Cute Mary Vickery!
Okay, so where do I even begin this next post? This is the story of The Amazing Taylor Verett and Super Cute Mary Vickery. Mary (my cousin) found out on Sunday that her boyfriend Taylor who is also our good friend (by the way they met at our wedding-how fun is that?) was getting to take some time off from the Air Force Academy for the week and coming to College Station to visit! Of course, I realize he was here mainly for Mary, but we are so thankful that they like us and want to spend time with us too! So, Tuesday night Taylor and Mary and Vic and I went to dinner at Wings N More
and during the evening of visiting, it was decided that Taylor, being the electronic genius that he is, was going to setup our surround sound system in addition to an agenda of other items. Our home is already equipped with speakers in the ceiling and wall and Vic, of course, loved the idea of getting it all hooked up. So, over the course of the next 3 days (poor Mary - she just thought she'd get some romantic time with her boyfriend; who knew he was going to work for 3 days straight??), Taylor not only bought us exactly what we needed (speakers, receiver, wireless thing for outside (I can't remember the right names...sorry Taylor!) and outside speakers) but set it all up for us. And, I have to say the sound is just about as perfect as you could get. With the music, you feel like you are in a bar with a live band playing and with the TV, you feel like you could be in a movie theater! As Taylor and Mary would say, it is SWEET!
Not only that, they also setup our garage door openers and keypad entry. Now, this next part is very important. As many of you know, Vic and I love the Veretts...all of them! And, for as long as I can remember, though I love being a part of my own family, I have constantly said that I would also be happy being a Verett, living on Verett Lane, etc. So, when Taylor asked us what code we wanted for the keypad to the garage, he just happened to mention the code for many Verett garage door keypads. And, he also might have mentioned that if we used that code, that could get me one step closer to being as Verett as I can be! So, guess what?? If you know the phone number to Uncle Eddie and Aunt Nancille's home (is that right Taylor? their home?) or you know the garage door keypad codes to many Verett homes, you can also access our new home's garage door keypad! It's the same number! How fun is that? Some of you will not be entertained by this at all, but some of you will be super excited!
This is Taylor and Mary finishing the task of installing the Garage Door Opener Keypad. Aren't they the cutest?
And, here is a picture of Mary, Vic, and Taylor putting our new lights for our front yard together. We have a steep walkway with a few steps that are hard to see in front of our house. So, Vic and I bought these super cool solar lights that come on at night. They look great!
So, lots was accomplished while Mary & Taylor were here (they also setup satellite in one of the guest rooms and probably did something else I am just not thinking of right now) and we are so thankful! Vic and I actually left the house before they did so that we could head to Port Aransas for the 2nd Annual Seidel Family Fishing Trip. However, when we got back, not only was everything installed and working wonderfully, but we also had a super fun card from them and Mary even baked us a cake! Guests like them are welcome back ANYTIME!

First Day in New House!
Well, after lots of packing (132 boxes) and stress with movers and some rain and closing on both the condo and the house all in one day, we finally got to unlock the doors to our new home. It really was a super exciting moment! From the second we got there though, it was pretty chaotic: like I said we had movers and rain, Vic's family staying with us, my dad in town for a visit, other drop-by visitors, appliance deliveries, dish network setup, re-keying of locks, trips to stock the house (sam's, bed bath and beyond, grocery store), unpacking, organizing, etc.! It was lots of fun, but very exhausting that first weekend. To be honest, I don't think Vic and I have caught up on sleep yet! There is just so much to remember and do and to be honest, I've been pretty proud of myself and Vic for doing a good job. I enjoy learning as I go and getting excited over the new nook or cranny we find or idea we come up with as we settle into our new home.We have decided, however, that we are not going to rush to do anything major as far as decorating. Our new home is truly a blank canvas--freshly painted with neutral colors and we can change hardware, paint, fixtures, etc. over time and not be rushed. I am already excited to shop in catalogs and stores and online to find the right fabric for curtains, knobs for drawers, furniture ideas, paint colors and anything else that we may decide to do to make our house warm and homey! It really is fun and exciting!
I have lots to say about individual things going on at the house, but need to get back to doing some laundry (some things never change: even in a new house! haha). So, here are a few updated pics of some of our things in the home...again, nothing exciting yet. But, give us time--between Vic and I we come up with some great ideas (ok, let's be honest here - some of my talents and ideas truly come from my family as they are the best at being creative but I can't wait to get started on them!)
