As requested

Okay people. Stop the madness. Stop the thousands of emails flooding my inbox, stop the harassing phone calls (Kristofer), and stop the text messages. I'll do it. I'll blog.
For my first entry into the unknown cyber-world (I think that's what the kids are calling it nowadays) will have to be brief. Studying awaits, as it has been for far too long. I think I am beginning to resent everything about accounting. The way everything has to balance, the rules, the hundreds of exceptions to the rule. Why can't there just be one rule and we stick with it! Life would be much easier.
I'll leave you all with that exciting piece of news. Which is well, quite sad now that I just read back over it. But, the five minutes I allotted myself for this is up, and I have to get back on schedule. See, I set a rule, and stuck with it. Why can't Cost Accounting figure that out? Now I'm sorta proud of my posting. Great Wisdom. Beat that Sarah.

Updates

Just a few updates: Cassie and Kristofer stayed with us while they were in town for Muster and we had a really nice time! It's always good to have friends in town because it brings ALL of us living in College Station together to visit and hang out. Friday night, I went to the Peddler Show and bought a few things I just could not live without! I am so happy to have friends like Megan and her sister, Emily, who also like craft shows. Friday night, after Vic agreeing that my purchases were good choices, he and I actually went on a last minute date! We just ate at Boston's Gourmet Pizza but it was so nice to be on a date with him! And, we saw one of my old college neighbors, Douglas, and learned he is back living in College Station as well.

Saturday and Sunday consisted of me running errands and buying wedding gifts, Vic studying, Church, a little time at the pool, and making a fondue dinner for Vic and me! Overall, it was such a wonderful, relaxing, nice weekend and I truly enjoyed it.

As far as Vic's exams, he is awaiting Test 3 Results, and will be taking Test 4 on May 5th. His last class for all the exams is tonight - WHOOP! He will also be re-taking Test 2 on May 19th. Then, we will just wait and see how the results turn out. At that point, we'll either go back to study mode for a little while to test again in July or be absolutely done and start talking to lenders and realtors to find a house to buy!

Okay, that is all for today. More posts to come including "Top 10 Reasons why I love our new bank!" and "The Giant Cupcake". Get excited!

"Softly Call the Muster....

April 21, 2009

Aggie Muster is a cherished Aggie Tradition that is held for each and every fallen Aggie. For me and many, Muster is what brings our beloved University and Aggie Family together every year. "Muster is how the Spirit is remembered....A&M may change, but the Spirit never will." Though we've always known that friends and family and ourselves will be honored by fellow Aggies one day at Muster, we never dreamed that we'd be doing it so soon for such a dear friend of mine and Vic's. Feelings of sadness, grief and pain will come out again tonight, but feelings of pride and love for our friend will also hold true. This comes with knowing that one day we'll all meet again.

"Softly call the Muster, Let comrade answer, "Here!"

Easter Sunday 2009

As you all know from an earlier post, we were really happy for Easter weekend because Vic's test was over and we could just relax. We decided to go to the early service at Church at 8:15 Sunday morning and then have a brunch. Charley came to Church with us and it was a great service with a great sermon and really wonderful music! It was rainy and cloudy for a good part of the day, but still a good day. Vic made a beautiful brunch of fruit, omelets, cheese biscuits, sausage and fruit smoothies (of course the boys had a little extra ingredient in theirs to really shake things up if you know what I mean...I told them their smoothies were full of sin! Mine was nice and pure! hehe) Anyways, the meal was wonderful, as always! I love Vic's cooking and it was SO nice, again, to have Charley to visit. Then, it was time for Vic and Charley's FAVORITE moment of the day (ok, so maybe it was really my favorite and they just knew better than to argue!). EASTER BASKETS! My aunt GG always makes us the BEST Easter baskets when we are at home at Easter. She gives the best candy and prizes and I have missed being at home for Easter the past few years, because those are the best (in addition to just seeing the family!). Anyways, I have a great Easter Basket teacher. Last year, I have to admit I did a really good job coming up with ideas. But, this year, the Easter Bunny is on a budget because she needs to save her money for a house so she and the Easter Bunny Hubby can have more room for the BABY Easter bunnies! So, the Easter baskets were a little smaller - they had things like body wash and deodorant....and of course candy and a couple of other fun items! They even got a MONEY egg...granted it had just a bunch of random change and a one dollar bill, but at least they got one! Don't they look excited? Okay so I don't really give them stuffed animals, because let's be honest here, do they care about stuffed animals? No. But, I always stick a couple that I have in there (that I think GG has put in my Easter Basket in the past) just because you HAVE to get some kind of cute little animal in your basket! So, for the past 2 years, they are loaned cute little frogs that they must return to be used again the next year! I think they really do like getting baskets though!

Overall, it was a great Easter and I think we all 3 had a wonderful time. Now, remember, Easter will be at mine and Vic's house (if we have a new one) next year, so don't forget to put it on your calendars!

The Circus!

This past Friday, for Good Friday, our offices were let out at noon. So, I took full advantage of the afternoon and called Charley (my little brother) to hang out for the afternoon/evening. Fortunately, I am still cool enough for a college guy to hang out with! Poor Vic was studying and I knew if I was at the house, it would be tempting for him to come down and see me or visit, so I had to get out of there and leave him alone (his exam was the next day). So, after a few errands, Charley and I went to the movie and saw Sunshine Cleaning - very good, but one of those serious but quirky movies. I liked it! Then, that evening Charley and I went to the circus! I had such a good time! It was the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. There were kids EVERYWHERE! Charley and I laughed a lot at the crazy things parents buy for their kids - from expensive cotton candy to light up swords to $4 coloring books to $15 programs to stuffed animals and all other wild circus items! I already felt sort of sad for mine and Vic's children one day - they will NOT be getting those items. We'll eat before we come and not purchase a bunch of expensive toys. Of course, when I told Charley that, he said he would be the uncle that would spoil them and buy those things! haha - I'll let him!

Anyways, my favorite part were the jugglers - they were amazing! And, I LOVED the elephants. They were so cute and I really wanted to pet one....or take one home. Vic would not have been pleased. :-) There were trained wienie dogs and trained tigers and acrobats and gymnasts and a great bicycler (who even rode a bicycle that could not have been more than 8 inches tall) and all sorts of other things! Anyways, I couldn't get very good pictures during the show, but I did get one of me and Charley!

Round Top

So, my friend Katie invited me to go to Round Top a couple weeks ago. A couple of times a year, in Round Top, Texas (about an hour from College Station) is a GIGANTIC antique show. I am not a serious antique shopper, though I enjoy shopping and looking at old items. But, I have always been curious about Round Top so when Katie invited, I definitely wanted to go! She and her friend Donya and I got up early Saturday morning, April 4th and headed to the shows. The first place we hit up happened to be all craft booths. I am a sucker for crafts and craft shows, so I was loving this! Then, we went to another area and found a bunch of really fun antique booths to go through. I have decided that I really like looking at things like old plates and household items and stuff like that. But, after we went to another area that had tons of old "European and American" furniture, I realized I did not enjoy that kind of antiquing nearly as much. I just got a little bored looking at multi-thousand dollar old furniture. It was all very pretty, but I lost interest pretty fast. So, now I know what kinds of antiques I like! We had a great time though! And, my mom was SO excited that now when I take her this fall or next spring, I'll know what we should be looking for!

Taylor's Visit

So, though I mentioned a few blogs ago that Taylor visited College Station for a week, I never got to post a super fun picture! So, see below for a few pics! They include Katerina, Mary, Taylor, Kinsey, Charley, Vic, Katie and myself in Downtown Bryan. This is close to where our wedding reception was held and where Mary and Taylor met.

I'm not sure what Vic was trying to illustrate here, but wouldn't that have been terrible if that weed was poison ivy or something?

Saturday Before Easter

So, I'll give a quick update - I have a couple posts on Round Top and the Circus but I'll update those later this weekend. Today, Vic took his 3rd CPA Exam (Regulation) and feels like it went really well. He is so smart and I'm just so proud of him because he is studying SO much and SO hard to get these done. I'm so lucky to be married to him because he is such a good caretaker of our family. As far as I'm concerned, he doesn't have to go back and get his CPA unless he just wants to. He's gotten his B.S. and M.S. and has a good job and can do anything. But, he does....simply for not only himself, but our family (he and I, but also the super fun babies we will have one day!). So, to say the least, I am on a high today because I am just so proud!

We are doing whatever he wants to do today. So far, we are relaxing with a cold beverage and watching some food network while we plan Easter Sunday's meal. We have not decided whether to go to the early service and have a brunch or the late service and have lunch. It will be just Charley, me and Vic since our families are too far to drive up. But, I am still looking forward to it.

OOH! I just got a brilliant idea. Next year, when Vic and I have our new super fun house to live in, we will have to require our families to just come to College Station and we'll cook a great meal (ok, let's be honest here - Vic and I will plan, Vic and I will go to the store, Vic and I will prepare, but mainly Vic will cook and I will visit--he is just too good at it!) and go to our Church for Easter service! Of course, this means I will want to prepare Easter baskets for everyone and Vic will get into a panic thinking I am spending all of his money....oh this will be so fun! So, for all of you reading this that are part of our family (or if anyone else just wants to come - all are welcome!) then write it on your calendar: Easter at Vic and Sarah's - April 2010!

Wow - I really need to go. I am just rambling on when I should be spending time with my super cute husband because we don't get much of it lately with all the studying!

Have a great day everyone! I'll update again probably tomorrow or Monday!
Sarah
P.S. So, would you like to know how super adorable Vic is? He is a little bummed because it is kind of cloudy here and he's so excited for spring, he really wants it to be sunny(especially on his day off)! He just looked outside and said "I wish the sun would come out or there was at least a bunny or chick on the porch -- it's supposed to be spring!" Okay, so if he reads this he is going to tell me "Sarah, some conversations are private" which makes me laugh and love him even more! Okay, really I'm done now. Bye!

Megan's Baby Shower

So, I don't know how many of you know, but my sweet friend Megan (who I work with) is having a baby. I have been very excited from Day 1 - the first day she told my other friend Courtney and I that she was pregnant. It has been so much fun to watch her tummy grow. I have had a couple other friends be pregnant, but have never learned nearly as much as with Megan. I constantly press on her stomach and ask her questions and absolutely LOVE learning all about babies. It makes me so excited for the day Vic and I decide to have children! Plus, they make such cute maternity clothes!

So, fortunately, I am part of the "Social Committee" at work and we planned a super fun baby shower at our office this past Friday. See a few pictures below! She got super cute things and I am excited to also be going to her next shower in Chappell Hill in a couple weeks. She does not know whether it's a boy or a girl, but either way, she and her husband Russell are going to be ready. The baby's room is already painted and decorated. She only has a few weeks left until the baby will be here - June 8th is the date! (can you tell I'm almost as excited as if I were the one having a baby?)

Our committee included Rosemary, Danielle, Courtney and myself. And, Megan promised me today she will hold a Baby Training 101 class when I get ready to have a baby! I can't wait because as of now, I know NOTHING! But, most importantly, I cannot wait to hold that sweet baby of theirs....he or she is going to be so little and tiny and smell so good and be so sweet and I'm just so impatient!

Melbo & Pa's new truck

So, I have not updated this week, but there has not been a lot going on. I had a great weekend last weekend visiting my family and hanging out with Tabatha on Saturday. We rearranged furniture and shopped for a new TV for their house. Then, we met some other people from Sanger at Nate's Seafood in Addison. It was SOO good. I kept thinking the entire time how much Vic would enjoy it. I ate soft shell crab for the first time and it was really good!

Also, I forgot to mention a couple weeks ago that my grandparents Melbo and Pa got a new truck. It is a King Ranch Ford and it is pretty fancy. They went to the dealership, told them they wanted the best they could get, and haggled a really good deal! Melbo told me the next time I want to buy a vehicle, take Pa with me for a good deal....I think we'll take them up on that!
Doesn't Melbo look cute and happy in her new truck with the sunroof and a texting button and pretty leather seats? I will say, it has so many buttons, it took a minute for us to figure out how to put it in gear. I have the best grandparents. They are just so funny and one of the happiest married couples - 61 years and counting! (That is Dan, the dog, in front of them; his brother, Sam, lives at my parents house!)
