Grace: 9 months

Grace is 9 months old today! It really is surprising to me because at this time with Atticus, we were already past his first Christmas and he was bigger than she was. So, it is going by very quickly for me!

  • Weight: 17 lbs, 7 oz. (So at 8 months I was wrong on her weight; Our scale is not too accurate) - She is in the 39th percentile - still so petite!
  • Height: 27 1/2 inches (47th percentile)
  • Head Circumference is not usually too important to me, btu I thought it was funny because it is in the 77th percentile. Vic says she gets that from him; he has always thought he has a big head.
  • Still in size 3 diapers.
  • Finally in 9 month clothes!
  • She is getting a good little head of hair. It is much darker than Atticus' but I wouldn't call it brown. Poor thing may end up with just dark blonde hair like me.
  • Still crawling, pulling up and standing for seconds at a time.
  • Still clapping, waving, and bouncing to the beat of music.
  • Still takes her paci at night and naptimes and out and about when I need her to be happy.
  • Morning and afternoon naps are still normal at 1.5 hours in the morning and 2.5 in the afternoon.
  • Her nighttime sleeping is getting better. For the past 2 weeks, she has mostly slept through the night only getting up a couple of times. I think she is moving more and getting more worn out during the day which helps her sleep well. Plus, she is healthy and doesn't have a cold that is keeping her up like she did a month ago.
  • Saying "mamamamama" and "dadadadadada" and then just yelling. Usually when Atticus roars or yells loud, she copies him.
  • Has just started getting 5 more teeth in the past week. This will give her a total of 8 - 4 on bottom and 4 on top. She hasn't really been fussy except right when the first top one was poking through.
  • She has had a double ear infection this past month after a few days of fever.
  • She is still trying new foods although she is leaving her fruit on the tray lately. I have to start making her eat cheerios more than puffs though. She scarfs those up so quickly!
  • She has started taking a sippy cup.
  • She has recently become very interested in toys and especially Atticus' toys. He doesn't always care unless he is setting up his animals or working on his lego train and then if she takes a toy, he gets mad at her. Everything goes in her mouth. This week she has taken to her little doll and paying more attention to it and playing. I love this because I can't wait until she plays with dolls!
  • Lately, I have gotten back in the habit of reading to her while I read Atticus his stories before his naptime. She likes looking at the books a little. However, her new game is while we are sitting on his bed. She will sit up and then just crash head first into his pillow and just laugh! Then, of course, Atticus does the same thing and they both laugh. Then she sits up and then crashes down again. It is too funny because as soon as she is on the bed, that is what she wants to do.
  • She has learned to kiss us. If you get her in the right moment and tell her to kiss you, she will look right into your eyes and open her mouth and dive towards you. It is the most precious little drool-ey kiss!
  • She loves bathtime, as long as she is nice and full of her dinner first. She will sit right at the faucet while the water runs and put her hands under the running water and play.
  • She is just so little and petite and cute! She just fits perfectly on my hip and still in my arms if she will let me nurse her to sleep or rock her to sleep. My love grows for her every day!
