Camp Erwin for Atticus

The last couple of summers, we have gone to Camp Erwin, which is our 7 - 10 day trip to Sanger to see all of our family and do lots of kid things. We usually go without Vic, since he is working. But, this year, with Everly arriving, we did not plan a Camp Erwin. However, we all decided Atticus was old enough to go spend some time in Sanger without me or Vic there. He knows everyone so well and could rotate around from house to house. So, I met GG in Corsicana with his bags and didn't see him until 13 days later when the rest of us went to Sanger for a weekend. Atticus had a GREAT time. We ended his trip by Vic, the girls and I going to Sanger so Vic could help Daddy and Charley work on the saddleshop. We also celebrated most of the July & August birthdays that day too. But, here are a few things he did while he was on his own:
  • Water Aerobics. 3x a week, GG and Melbo go with lots of other ladies to the pool for water aerobics. In the summertime, they do them in the currents of the lazy river. So, GG and Melbo just took Atticus with them. Apparently, he loved it and so did all of the ladies in the class! He would wear his puddle jumper and have the best time. If he got too far, one of the ladies would just pull him back. On the phone one night, he said "those ladies are in love with me!". He loved water aerobics!
  • He went to a trampoline park with GG's friend, Rita and her two grandkids, Carter and Cailen. And he swam and played legos at their house one day.
  • He fed chickens with Melbo.
  • He went with Pop to buy new boots and eat at Chick-Fil-A.
  • Grandma setup a lego room with all of Charley's old legos and Atticus said he helped both Grandma and Pop feed the goats and the baby calf.
  • He talked a LOT, from what I hear, about Star Wars with Charley and Pop.
  • Charley took him to Legoland and the Aquarium in Grapevine and then they met up with Ana to eat at Rainforest Cafe. Atticus talked a lot about Legoland...he is obsessed with Legos! He also got to stay the night with them one night. Apparently, they were the best at wearing him out; I think they said he slept 9pm to 9am?!
  • I'm sure I'm forgetting other things they did, but I know Atticus had a great time sleeping at each house and eating "random meals" I think he called it (at GG & Melbo's, I think one night Pa ate watermelon for dinner and one night Pa and Melbo ate cereal and maybe even just cake one time? haha - the ways you get to eat when you are 86 and almost 90!); playing, and spending time with his family. I'm SO glad he got to do this because our opportunities to just pack up and head to Sanger for 3-4 days here and there when Vic is busy with work are about to be rare since Atticus is starting Kindergarten! Here are a few pics I was sent or took:

What a great summer vacation!
