- We bought school supplies. I had this grand idea of taking Atticus by himself to go pick out supplies and make it really special. But, when I brought it up, he didn't sound excited. And it was going to be hard to work in an evening to our schedule. So, I took all 3 kids to Walmart, forced him to help me and bought the items without any excitement. I mean, he doesn't really know what to expect in Kindergarten, so I can understand the minimum excitement over school supplies. But, I LOVED school supplies. So, I'll hold out for Grace and Everly's school supplies shopping days in the future to get excited again!
- I bought him a back to school outfit. I didn't buy much else; it's hot here until November and we have plenty of shorts and tshirts for that.
- He DOES love his new Star Wars backpack and lunch box. And he did oblige when I asked him if he wanted anything special in his lunches this year. He told me he really wanted spaghetti but not with the sauce since it's messy. So, cold pasta? Okay....I plan to get creative though so I'm not sending the same PB&J every day.
- We went to Kindergarten Assessment a couple of weeks ago. They had him write his name and sound out and write letters and tell them his birth date. He came out happy!
- GG asked me to get him to write his name 10x a day for this week so he can practice. Now, surprisingly, he has been really interested in doing that! And, he is doing better every day.
- We got an email from his school about some first day to do's and he had me read it 3x.
- We started practicing waking up early today. Well, I woke him at 6:45 but I'm thinking 6:15 to 6:30 will be the right time. He has to be at school at 7:35, but we are just 3/4 a mile away. So, we will test it as it goes. The biggest problem I foresee is that he LOVES to play when he wakes up and that will have to change. And I would like him in bed by 7:30 at night, but it's so hard when it's daylight until 9:00. I think he will be so tired that it will be easier next week, but we are going to try it tonight.
