February 2013 Photo Update

And here are our February 2013 updates with pictures...some of these are random and just for me to remember silly days, but they are still cute and fun.

First, Atticus has found a love for cereal. Now, he doesn't eat it at the high chair himself....milk is just everywhere, but my goodness if you have your own cereal, he will eat every bite.

Atticus has also been doing these funny faces. We will ask him to be silly, happy, serious, and to cry. To be silly, he just wiggles. To be happy, he puts his hands on his cheeks and smiles. To be serious, he narrows his eyes and looks down. To cry, he just scrunches up his face. It is just too funny! Here is the best I could get of his looks...

Atticus will be moving into his new room after the baby arrives. We thought we would have him moved before now, but honestly, we are not worried. The baby will stay in the bassinet for awhile and he really loves his crib, so we figured we'd just wait until we are ready. Well, we have painted and gotten his furniture and his new bedding. He loves playing in his new room and I think it will be very easy to move him in. In the meantime, we also read in his new bed occasionally. I just loved this morning that this picture was taken as we read in his bed and he laughed and giggled. The other funny thing about Atticus right now is his love for his blanket and 3 friends. He has a brown polk-a-dot blanket that he loves. He also has "mun-I" which is his Mickey Mouse stuffed animal. He has "ba-ba" which is actually a stuffed dog that my great-grandmother made me when I was a little girl. He found it first, a few months ago, and hasn't let go of "ba-ba" since. And he now has added "rawr" to his collection of friends. "Rawr" is a little bear that had some hershey kisses with it that he got from Vic and I for Valentines. From that night on, he was part of the gang. So, we have the blanket and all three friends that MUST be with us when we go to bed at night and sometimes just when we are hanging out during the day. I cherish these moments!

Vic is starting to take Atticus back out for runs in the jogging stroller now that we have some good weather days. Atticus loves to go, but one day, the ride must have been too comfortable. He fell asleep in the stroller.

Here is another picture of me at about 36 weeks. I am growing!

Charley & Ana got to come visit us for a weekend and we were so excited! Charley's coaching schedule is so busy, especially with track this time of year, so we were glad they had a weekend to come down. The weekend was filled with a little shopping, some delicious eating, and a really fun afternoon playing with Atticus outside. We have a really steep driveway and front yard and recently, Atticus and I had been pushing some of his trucks down the front steps when we'd play outside. Well, Uncle Charley knew how to really get the fun out of this activity. They pushed Atticus' truck and bus down the driveway probably 30 times or more and raced and Charley would chase Atticus. I just know Atticus' little legs were sore from going up and down that driveway so much (Charley's probably were too!). Mine would have been! And one of my favorite things happened when Atticus got so tickled at being chased that he had this gut-wrenching laugh that couldn't stop. Nowadays, he is laughing like that a lot or just tickles himself so much that he laughs randomly. Anyways, back to the afternoon - it was just too fun watching him and he was exhausted. We were so glad they got to come visit!

After we had lunch with Ana & Charley and they left town, we headed home. Atticus fell asleep in the car for a quick catnap. But, typically when we arrive at places, he wakes right up. Well, he was tired that day. He stayed asleep on Vic's shoulder for a little bit and slept through us changing his clothes and diaper. That has not happened in a long time! Of course, as soon as we lay him down in his bed for his nap, he wakes up. But, I have not seen this little boy sleep on anyone for awhile, so I had to document with some pictures!

Some more playing in the truck. He just loves it!

Another new love of Atticus is The Lion King. A few months ago, I recorded it off of the TV just because. Well, recently, Atticus watched it. And now, he asks for it every single day. I don't know what it is about The Lion King that he loves. I think maybe it's the songs; or the fact that it is just animals, which he loves. But, he asks for it constantly. When he was sick a few weeks ago and had to stay home from school a couple of days, I let him watch it too many times. I just think that when you are sick, you should get some special treatment, but my goodness! I probably should have limited it those couple of days. So, we have this $1 lion that I got in the Michael's bin before Christmas and put into his stocking. This was before the Lion King addiction. He now carries the lion everywhere and calls it the lion king. However, I should also mention that he doesn't stay "Lion King". He says this strange word of "butth-I" but believe it or not that means Lion King. Too funny! So, because Lion King is plastic, and can be washed easily (unlike Mickey, Baba, and Rawr - the stuffed animal friends), he gets to sit with Atticus sometimes when he eats or go in the bathtub, etc. Actually we have a few animals that are plastic that go back and forth between the bathtub and the dry living room. I digress. So, I just want to remember the Lion King and thought I'd post a picture.

Those are the updates I have in pictures. A couple more:

1. I don't know if I have mentioned our nighttime ritual before, but we gather our "friends and blanket", sing a song, say our prayers, give hugs and kisses, and go to bed. Atticus loves this ritual, as do Vic and I, and loves going to bed where he typically laughs and plays awhile in there and then falls asleep. Anyways, during the prayer, we always pray for momma, dada, and atticus and have recently over the past couple of months added "and thank you God for our baby brother or sister". Well, Atticus loves that part and repeats "bruder" "sista" a couple times at the end of the prayer. It's just sweet. If you ask him if he wants a baby brother or sister, he tells you "No". But, I am not sure he really knows what a brother or sister is at this point. I am really looking forward to seeing his reactions when this baby arrives!

2. On February 28, I turned 30! I kind of can't believe it, but at the same time, it doesn't bother me at all. I loved my 20's, but am also looking forward to my 30's! Vic and I got to have a fun lunch at Cafe Eccel, a restaurant we have not been to since our first outing after Atticus was born in 2011; and then just enjoyed a nice relaxing evening together with Atticus. It was a great birthday! And, actually we even celebrated with gifts from Ana & Charley the weekend before!

Okay, that is it for now!
